Lullaby
To the world you may be one person
But to one person you are the world
But to one person you are the world
Parker Foster Aiken was welcomed to our world on Friday August 8, 2008 at 8:08AM by his large and loving extended family of Fosters, Aikens and Parkers.
The meaning of the name Parker is: Park Keeper
The origin is: English
The meaning of the name Foster is: forest keeper
The origin is: English
The meaning of the name Aiken is: From the Oak Trees
The origin is: English
Some in Claynation are speculating that Parker might have a career as a forest ranger in his future unless of course he inherited the Aiken/Foster musical genes then all bets are off.

A beautiful poem was posted on one of the Clay Aiken message boards in honor of Parker's birth and the poster graciously agreed to let me post it here. Written by ymarie:
God created a brand new soul, and began looking for the perfect home.
He wanted two parents who would give this child all the love their hearts could hold.
He saw a woman who had never known the joy of holding her child.
A woman who appeared to the outside world to be somewhat meek and mild.
But in her heart burned a fierce desire to have a daughter or son
To love and cherish all the days of her life, and God said, “She’s the one.”
Then he looked for a man, honest and true, who was filled with compassion and love.
Someone gentle yet strong, and worthy upon whom to bestow this gift from above.
A man who would always put others first, who long had a dream of inclusion.
Who wants to give every child the world, no matter their country or station.
So, this man who brings so much happiness to a world beset by strife
Would now be given his greatest desire, entrusted with this new life.
Clay and Jaymes, God chose you to be the perfect parents for this little boy.
He will be loved beyond reason, and will always be a source of pride and joy.
Congratulations and God’s blessings upon your new family. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your excitement and happiness. We love you.

Newborns always bring to mind the beautiful song "Lullaby" by the Dixie Chicks. Parker is lucky little boy that he has a dad with such a beautiful voice to sing him to sleep. I wonder what lullaby Clay is singing to his son.
"Lullaby"
They didn't have you where I come from
Never knew the best was yet to come
Life began when I saw your face
And I hear your laugh like a serenade
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
I slip in bed when you're asleep
To hold you close and feel your breath on me
Tomorrow there'll be so much to do
So tonight I'll drift in a dream with you
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
As you wander through this troubled world
In search of all things beautiful
You can close your eyes when you're miles away
And hear my voice like a serenade
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

Back to Spamalot
Return Engagement September 19, 2008 through January 4, 2009
Broadway is a very, very special place with very, very special people and Clay Aiken couldn't stay away. In a statement Clay joked, "Since leaving Spamalot in May, jokes have just not been funny. Food has lost its taste. The grass is no longer green — the sky no longer blue. And, babies won't stop crying!! I'm so excited about coming back to the funniest show in the world!"
From Variety:
Clay Aiken returning to Broadway
'American Idol' vet to reprise 'Spamalot' role
By GORDON COX
Claymates, get ready to head back to Broadway: "American Idol" alum Clay Aiken returns to the Rialto production of "Monty Python's Spamalot" this fall in a four-month stint.
Aiken will reprise the role of Sir Robin, which he played earlier this year in an engagement that ended May 4. David Hyde Pierce originated the part in the 2005 tuner, based on the 1975 film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."
Aiken is one of several reality TV stars who have made their way to Broadway, along with Fantasia Barrino ("The Color Purple") and Taylor Hicks ("Grease").
His previous run in "Spamalot" had a noticeable effect on box office. Weekly sales for the tuner surged the week Aiken joined the cast and took a steep tumble the frame after he departed.
Aiken returns to "Spamalot" Sept. 19-Jan. 4.

On My Way Here: 200 Freestyle Michael Phelps, Park Tae-hwan, and Peter Vanderkaay
Since this is a Clay Aiken-centric blog I usually don't blog about other topics, but the fantastic 200-freestyle in the 2008 Olympics with a record-breaking gold medal win by Michael Phelps warrants a break from the main topic.
Michael Phelps now ties Mark Sptiz, Larisa Latynina, Paavo Nurmi, and Carl Lewis with 9 gold medals. In the winning swim, Michael broke the world record by more than a minute with a time of 1:42:96. He finished more than a full body-length over silver medalist Park Tae-hwan. Michael touched the wall so early that he got to watch the rest of the field coming in. First-time Olympian Peter Vanderkaay won the bronze. Congratulations to all three.
Since this is a Clay Aiken blog it seems fitting to feature this video of Park Tae-hwan which was shown on Korean TV following his silver medal swim. The footage features Clay singing "On My Way Home":

Hello All...
I know it's been a while. I'm sure you know, it's been a full full summer. Sorry we haven't spoken in so long. But, I'm sure you know... I hate putting the cart before the horse. Not my way to tempt fate. But I wanted to stop by, if only for a second, so you could be the first folks I tell.... HE'S HERE!
My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken (No hyphens. One first name. One middle name. One last name.)
